You know what would really help pass some time? An inspiring Real Wedding. For which today we head on over to the Lake District which is one of the most stunning places there is - if you haven't been there please do make sure that you go.
The Merewood Country House looks fabulous and we have a very sweet looking couple today - and their baby girl as the stars of the show! Brittney and Huw's wedding does look like my kind of wedding I have to say -and that of course means there is a pair of fabulous shoes! AND they are Blue which is even better.

Brittney hails from Texas so I was more than slightly alarmed when her wedding day dawned and the rain fell- it poured all the way from Ilkley up to the Lake District where it alternated between fine mizzle and full on downpours!! ” Mizzle” is a Yorkshire word to describe moisture which is more than mist and less than rain! That said, what wonderful soft light we had all day….. The Merewood Hotel has great light particularly in the Lonsdale Suite. but my day started at the Gilpin Lodge hotel where the bridal party were assembled, so whilst I shot the bridal preparations Tom Arber photographed Huw and his groomsmen getting ready at The Merewood.
Brittney has a fantastic eye for detail so it was with great pleasure that I photographed all the wonderful things she had chosen, down to the mini baseball boots for Isla! Tamaryn Treasures http://www.tamarynstreasures.co.uk/ did wonderful things with the bouquets and interior dressing of the Merewood.
Brittney and Huw chose to celebrate their wedding with a Humanist ceremony. Thank you to Tom for his wonderful photographs from the rear of the room- space was tight for all involved and with one very little guest, Brittney and Huw’s daughter Isla, slightly unpredictable!
Some brides might have refused to venture outside in view of the inclement conditions but Brittney was brave! Thank you…. we had a fun half hour outside with Huw and Brittney who were open to suggestions, didn’t mind walking on grass, gravel or leaves and gave us free rein! The blue rhododendrons in front of the hotel made a great back drop to our photography- good call Brittney!
Finally, a very big thank you to Tom Arber for assisting me with this wedding- always charming, quiet but lethally effective with a camera!
We had a wonderful day with you all and wish you all the very best for your married life……
